Find Mass times for the solemnity of the Assumption Aug. 15

Wiki image: The Assumption of MaryOn Wednesday, August 15 we celebrate the solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a holy day of obligation. Find vigil or feast day Masses at a church near you and attend Mass in honor of the Blessed Mother and her example of deep reverence and trust in God. She is our Mother in heaven and a powerful intercessor for us.

Contact a parish near you for Mass times or visit masstimes.org to search by city, state or zip. (It's always a good idea to also call the parish directly to confirm Mass time information for holy days.)

The doctrine of the Assumption states that Mary, body and soul, was taken by God into heaven as the course of her life on earth was completed. Pope Pius XII proclaimed this event to be a doctrine on November 1, 1950. (excerpted from an American Catholic article by Jim Van Vurst, OFM)
