Live into the practice of mercy in concrete and practical ways with these monthly mercy actions that you can do individually or with friends and family. Add your own ideas based on each monthly theme.

Instruct the Ignorant
Opening the Year of Mercy,

Dec. 8.

​Reflect on who around you is
misinformed or confused about
the faith and lovingly share with
them your zeal for Jesus and his Church.

​January ​Shelter the Homeless ​Donate to an agency serving the
homeless; volunteer at a shelter; and practice
generous hospitality by inviting guests to
your home. For reflection
​February ​Feed the Hungry

​Donate non-perishable food through
your parish or to a local food bank; volunteer
at a food pantry/meal program in your parish
or community such as Catholic Charities

's God's Kitchen; donate to
Catholic Relief Services for global hunger, and
eat simply from local food sources.

​March Visit the Imprisoned ​Pray for the imprisoned and their families;
discern if you're being called to minister to
those who are imprisonsed through the
diocesan Prison & Jail Ministry; donate items
to Prison & Jail Ministry or through your parish.

​April Comfort the Afflicted ​Reflect on who is suffering around you, pray
for them, and take specific action to bring
them comfort. For further reflection & action
​May Bury the Dead ​Visit a grave to pray for a deceased family
member or friend or spend some extra time
after Mass to do so. For further reflection & action
​June Forgive Offenses Willingingly ​Reflect on who has hurt you, ask God to bring
you healing and pray for the well-being of
those who have harmed you.

​July ​Give Drink to the Thirsty ​Partipate in or donate to a parish mission trip
to locations where quality water is at a premium;
Read Pope Francis' Laudato Si'; Practice water conservation.

​August Counsel the Doubtful ​Reflect on who around you is in doubt or despair
and share your experience of God's presence and
power in your life.

​September Clothe the Naked ​Donate clothing to a shelter; give to a local winter
clothing drive; donate supplies to Catholic Charities

​October ​Visit the Sick

​Volunteer at a hospital/care center; visit a
sick/infirmrelative or friend; bring them holy
Communion; offer to grocery shop or run errands for
them; pray with them. Watch the live broadcast of
10am Sunday Mass
with them.

​November Pray for the Living and the Dead
Closing of the Year of
Mercy, Christ the King
of the Universe,
November 25, 2018

​Attend All Saints and All Souls Day Masses and
pray that Christ will be the Universal King in the
hearts of all the living and the dead.
